Dr. Sally el Tayeb is a PhD candidate in the field of injury prevention research at the Department of Global Public Health and Primary Care, University of Bergen. She has done extensive fieldwork in Khartoum State, Sudan. Managing a team of research assistans, she has gathered data on injuries through a community-based survey project amounting to almost 1.000 households in the sample (5.661 individuals). If that is not impressive of itself, injury research is a relatively new field with lots of new ground to cover. In this episode of Udannet we learn more about how Sally found out what kind of injuries that makes people unable to perform their daily activies, what kind of challenges there are to this kind of research and why the cross cultural perspective is important. We also touch on the relationship between traditional and modern medicine.
